Hey Guys,

Im sure this has been discussed before, but although i love the grunt in the 400, i could do with more!!

Whats a 'reasonable' upgrade which will give more power but keep it useable and reliable???

Just a few times.

Do we ever think of anything else ? rofl

First of all...chuck everything out of the boot, carry minimal fuel, increase your tyre pressures, go on a diet, and keep your head below the windscreen. hehe

Any more ideas anyone ?

You wouldn't want this old cronker. It's still got ripples from the accident. Bodywork & outriggers!

It still goes much harder & handles far better than any of the wedges I've had mind. yes

It was interesting seeing what went into my rebuild that would match the claimed factory figures. It struck me that there are a few things that can help but any real gains would mean a fair amount of wedge spent on the wedge. Correct me if wrong here, just that is appears that there is no real easy upgrade? So if I understand this, new lump or old lump out and worked on?

But, since the rebuild I have had a plenum insulator fitted that was a small outlay. £60 at the time. Helps a bit but more in the general running rather than screamin deamon department.

Standing by to do the Red Baron on his last outing.........

How about a new cam? Followed by new heads with bigger and ported valves. Re-mapped ignition etc etc. Got to be cheaper than a new 5 litre engine. Mind you having said that, if my 3.5 engine went pop I would go and get a 5 litre as a replacement...

If I was going to upgrade a Wedge I'd either get a 4 litre serp in there & send it to SC for a blower or put a second hand 4.6/5 litre in on a webber 500 carb.
This was my plan but no one want's the Griff because of it's history & the above mentioned faults. Looks like I'll be keeping it.

Well my engine is at John Eales having some more magic poured on it. The plan is to extract another 2-3 psi boost out of the induction and see if it will break the 600 bhp barrier...

No chance - the new SSC 1000 mph project has a 1000 bhp V12 to just power the fuel pumps..
