Anyone read this? Got half way through last night but between the drugs dude
(medicinal)and visitors this morning, haven't had time to finish.
Guy from PPC sounded genuinely nervous about 500bhp in mini wheel base.
So great to see a WEDGE on a car mag front cover.
Nice one Steve.
sorry if covered already, couldn't find a thread

Yes there was definitely a bit of a PPC effect shall we say.... kev was quite concerned because he hadn't really driven anything like it but I have never seen such a grin on his face after a couple of laps though. He even started asking me how much does a wedge cost so who knows what might happen?
As I result I got to drive the PPC Porsche 928 around mallory and the PPC Roller round Brands (see Nov issue) and I am doing some work with them on the other cars including the V12 SD1.
They have also taken some pictures of my LS1 powered Cerbera so there should be some more TVR coverage in the future.
PS the wedge may be hitting 600 bhp in 2009...

Hi Steve,
Great article - Did Kev really break as much stuff as they reported in PPC, the way it read it sounded like your car spent more time being fixed than actually driven ?
Mind Given Kev's staff car track record I shouldn't really be surprised, it could have been worse at least "Ed Gasket" didn't get near it.
Are you going to have a go in Charlie's 27L SD1 ?

Yes it is accurate. The main problem on the first day at Silverstone was the fog which meant we lost over half of the track time so what was a quick fix actually took a big hit on the remaining track time.
At Mallory, a Group A Sierra Cosworth suspension part failed and that was that. I had spares but when we saw the chassis crack, common sense prevailed and the day was abandoned. I have since removed the offending part form the design.
The next Mallory day was fabulous and great fun.
Abingdon was quite stressful in that kev is a competitive guy and when sprinting, everything happens so quickly and there is no room for error. He got a bit hamfisted to be honest and things broke. However that is Motorsport and when the car is developed way beyond its limits, things can and will break.
As for the SD1 V12... it's a possibility. Charlie saw the Cerb at Oulton Park and was very impressed with it (praise indeed considering his background and what he has done) and saw that I had solved several problems that he is battling with on the SD1. So we are exchanging emails and I may be making the anti-roll bars for the car. Kev's 928 already has a set of them on the car and he hasn't broken them yet.
BTW my new motto is " I break cars... so you don't"
PS Do you think I should retain Kev as test driver for 2009?

I have posted it before along time ago but here's the in car video of Kev driving the 520SE at Mallory and passing me while I was driving his 928.

Love the motto Steve, " I break cars... so you don't"
Thoroughly enjoyed the article. What i find amazing is the transformation that has taken place since the pictures taken within & on the back of the wedge pages manual. just a good ol 390SE then. Big ol purple car journo scary monster now!!
Love it. And love the idea that 500bhp is never enough, lets go 600. That's the kind of Wedge nut job we need at the helm. Brilliant.
Oh yes, and subscriptors rule.
