Window/Door adjustment
Discussion
I'm sure this subject must have been asked before but I just can't get the search to find anything sensible.
I'm starting to put right a few little niggles with the car and the first is that I have traced a 'knocking' noise when I go over rough/bumpy road surface to the fact that the very top of the nearside door window glass when in the fully up position and with the hood off is knocking against the top of the windscreen pillar.
I have checked the 'Bible' and can find no reference to changing the alignment of the glass track. I need to drop or twist the back or right side so the glass angles slightly more away from the screen pillar when it's fully up.
Is there an easy adjustment for this?

Check your door adj is good first by looking at theggap.
The window I beleive is intended to be non adjustable (angle), but some adjustment for wear can be made by looseningg all the bolts and pulling window in the desired direction. If that does give desired range of motion elongating the the holes in the door which hold the motor will a bit more latitude.
When done, re-check the height adjustment (the high tech bit of bicycle brake cable) so the widow does not hit the top when door is closed with the windows up. Those side widows do break.

Following on from Jeffs thread, the hi tech bicycle brake wire not only limits the ammount of upward movement of the window glass but also when adjusted correctly will pull the glass at the rear of the door down slightly and stop the front from interfering with the windscreen pillar when the window is fully closed. The window I beleive is intended to be non adjustable (angle), but some adjustment for wear can be made by looseningg all the bolts and pulling window in the desired direction. Thanks Jeff. I have already checked the door gapping and they seem fine combined with no play seemed to lead me to more of a window issue. I was getting concerned as at the contact point on the pillar the paint has all been scrapped away but more importantly the glass is showing scratches at the contact point and it only needs for that to chip and I guess the glass could be at risk!
I'll try the bolt slackening and pulling to see what happens.
Thanks again.

Chedder,
Thanks for that as I couldn't find any reference in the adjustment to height that mentioned the dropping of the back which is of course exactly what I'm after!
I'll try both Jeff and your suggestions regarding further adjustment, including to the height and hopefully that will be the next issue resolved and crossed off the list!
Thanks for your help!
