Help - I have a fuel leak from the fuel pump area of my 86 350i. I have had a look at the bible and found the fuel system diagram looks nothing like mine!!!

I think the leak is coming from a plastic(?) gater over the end of the fuel accumulator.

This may be a simple question but can any body give me any simple way of confirming which bit is the pump and which one is the accumulator??

Also looking for a replacement accumulator any ideas what its from - SD1 maybe?

2 wires going to the pump, not the swirl pot?

Edited to add after reading Andy's post
Doh! forgot the filter.

Also, my pump has a plastic housing around the terminals.

Are you sure its an acumulator? most I have seen are just pump and filter arrangements. My 400 once developed a leak from around the fuel filter, everything has since been replaced including a new swirl pot,the original can corrode over time.

The best thing to do is have a look under and wipe it all down to pin point where its coming from, may need just a hose clip tightening.

Andy.

Thanks J Morgan, you are right it is the pump. An extra fuel filter between the tank and the pump was causing the confusion!!!!

Fuel pump now isolated from tank and the wife is now smelling fresh air again.

I will have time to check over the pump next week. Hopefully its only a connection

Is that listed under 'Miscellaneous', 'Parts/Accessories' or 'Property'? - Streaky
