Could any of you good people do me a favour? I've got a tricky entrance to my garage between two buildings. I'm thinking about buying a FHC Tasmin and it would appreciated if you could measure the overall width of your car for me. The total (mirror to mirror) width please. Ta.

According to the handbook the Convertible and FHC are both 68"

You will have to add a bit for mirrors depending which type.
But not muchsmile

I have 7'-6" garage doors and its no fun to get it in at night.... How wide of a area are you working with?

I've just measured mirror to mirror edge on my 400SE and it's 74 inches.
Bear in mind that the later mirrors are recessed into the bodywork.

My 280i FHC was basically the same width, even with different mirrors.
So you need minimum 80 inches to be safe.

What you've also got to watch when putting it in the garage is the bonnet length.

A good trick is to hang a tennis ball or similar on a string from the roof, so that it touches the screen when you're 'there'. smile

Brilliant, thanks very much. I've bought the FCH but was starting to stress about fitting it thought the gate.

Hopefully get it tomorrow as the last attempt was cancelled on Thursday due to snow.
