TVR only.
Plain cap is correct (or 30psi)
Richard Thorpe.

Can't the original be repaired?

I recommend getting Steve Heath's Wedge 'bible' if you haven't already done so, and of course always plenty of help on here. smile

just looked at it properly and its leaking from under the filler cap but the tabs on the filler neck look like they have been bent back so i dont think the cap is sealing very well , it looks like i'll have to take off the pipe and have a go at getting tthem back into the right position
thanks for the help Colin

Had the same problem with a non-sealing swan neck cap. A thin smear of blue non-setting gasket did the trick.

To give yourself a good chance of a good job buy a new filler cap as well. They're cheap and available from any motorfactors.

Although the pipe and the filler fitting itself are stainless, I've seen a few that obviously weren't welded with s/s rods because the welds have corroded... rolleyes

Run a fine file or stone across the surface which mates with the rubber in the cap. If it isn't flat a new cap will still leak.

The neck is out of shape it looks like someone has forced the cap off in the past and that has distorted the rim and the lip so that the cap will not fit. I've taken the pipe off but still cant get it back to how it should be so it looks like i need a new pipe

Some people have had great results brazing in a plumbing fitting - it gives a much better seal too. You could do that to your old pipe.
