Been having problems when putting petrol in the Tasmin of late. Despite the fact that I leave BOTH filler caps open when I put petrol in, the pump either cuts out after about 30 seconds or I get some blow-back of the petrol. This happens which ever side of the car I decide to fill with.

Could it be that I have an air lock somewhere in the system or is it something else? The problem has only started in the last month, so I'm starting to get worried. As far as I can tell the fuell gauge is fairly accurate, unless it has also started to play up? The car is a 1980 series 1 Tasmin 280i.

Any help/advice appreciated. Thanks.

Mark

They can be difficlt to fill and you need to have the pump at the right angle. Also modern pumps are at a much higher pressure. Just be patient.

Two filler caps! Aren't you lucky? Filling my Wedge takes an age of dripping it in CC by CC . - Streaky

Hey Mark -

Caught you at the Mid Essex meet today and saw your Tasmin - very good it is too.

It just goes to show what an elegant and crisp design this was when it first came out! I remember Car magazine waxing on about it in 79 or 80. They really were impressed. Alas with the several moves I've made in that time I doubt that I have that mag any more. Anyone got a copy?

cheers!
JJ

Funnily enough, 'Nut old chap, I too had a 1980 Series 1 Tasmin, and I never managed to fill the tanks rapidly. I always had to let it trickle in.

Firefox: I may have that very article. However most of my literature is out on loan to another wedgeophile, so you may find it elsewhere sooner.
