head light pods
Discussion
If you rummage under the car and turn the knob on the bottom of the faulty pod motor, does it wind up so far and then suddenly power-up? If so the pod will probably go all the way up and back down again.
Try it again with the lights turned on. If the pod now stays up it's a dead diode in the motor unit.
If it goes up and back down it could be one or both diodes are blown or a dodgy connection to the motor unit. It only takes one corroded connector to stop proper operation.
If the motor doesn't kick in when you wind it up manually it could be one of several things but it almost certainly won't need the motor replacing.
Worst case scenario, you pull the fuses for both pod motors and wind them fully up and leave them there. It's not an MOT issue if the pods are stuck... just as long as the beams are pointing where they should.
