Hi every body, can any of you help me please? im after some pics of how a roll bar would attach to the rear shocker mounts/ chassis, im making one instead of buying because the car is off the road so travelling anywhere is going to be costly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, ill post the drawings when i get it finished, i have bought the cds tube and had it bent by Merlin motorsport (some where near castle comb)£150 got me all the tube i needed for the bar and supports, bent including vat and postage, 2 days delivery too, great value. It looks good so far but i dont want to over engineer the rear mounts.
all the best

No idea what car you have and the chassis's vary. I made and fitted a roll bar to a Tasmin 200. The hoop was bolted to the outrigger plates. I mounted the the 2 tubes going back to the body/chassis mounting brackets and not to the shock mounts as most people do. It was just a case of welding a steel plate on the end of the tube with a hole drilled front and rear to bolt it down.
Have to say that it wasn't the easiest job, took me a few weekends to get it right. Unfortunately I didn't take any photo's of work in progress, but I do have some of the finished item if you are interested. Cheers Steve.

Hi, yeah maybe i should have said which car ive got, doh!
its a series 2 350i, yeah some pics would be great if you could post them on here.
I wasnt sure whether to weld a spigot to the chassis so the bar supports could just slot over, then just put a bolt through each, or weld a plate to the supports and bolt that on. I'll have a look tomorrow, see how it goes.
thanks
