Reluctor air gap
Discussion
My big book of wedge wisdom (OK the Haynes manual for the Range Rover) says that for the 35DM8 distributor it should be 0.008 to 0.014 inch, or 0.20 to 0.35mm if you're a young 'un
Don't forget to use non-ferrous feeler guages.
The DM8 was the one with the remote ignition amplifier whereas the DLM8 had it on the side. From the drawing it looks to be the same pickup coil design on both types. My DLM8 pickup failed a couple of years back and I think I went for the middle ground at 12 thou" gap.

After reading this, for s
ts and giggles I went and checked mine. Yep, bit wide, so probably a poor-ish signal for the amp to amplify. So I closed it up a little.
Noticeably improved bottom end torque and driveability. I think it is perkier all over the rev range actually. Noticed the difference even just trundling about in traffic.
very happy!
