Arghhhhh.... rusty bushes !
Discussion
The rear training arm bolt was so badly rusted in the shock metalastic bush that even after cutting both ends of the bolt to remove the upright and the shock the bolt was so badly stuck the only option was to trash the bush in order to save the shock...
Anyone know where you can buy replacement bushes for the end of the shock, will call RT in the morning as I think thats where the Shocks came from.

You could try this lot if you can work out what size bushes you need (ID, OD and width):

There are other similar suppliers (usually cheapar than a specific brand specialist).

Cheers Ian,
I'll call RT this morning and if that fails to bear fruit I'll get in touch with the spring people.
Annoying as the car only had the springs and shocks replaced in 07 - a bit of copper grease would have made all the difference
If you want a job doing properly etc....
Seeing as it was RT that fitted the shocks maybe you should have a word I'll call RT this morning and if that fails to bear fruit I'll get in touch with the spring people.

Hi Tony,
Yes dropped a not very subtle hint in my e-mail to them this morning, considering the car only had the shocks replaced in June 07 I'm amazed that the bushes have rusted solid this quickly - good job I ordered 2 spare bushes as I've had to take the N/S shock / spring off the car to get the exhaust out and this was rusted solid too

The exhaust is now dummied up in the right place and is over 1" off the chassis and misses the drive shaft but won't quite fit as the angle of the joint in front of the diff is all wrong, It looks like I'm going to have to cut the flange off and get it re welded at the right angle... I'm going to think about it a bit more before I bugger something else up with the hacksaw

I've also removed the fuel filter and fuel pump mainly to change that perished hose from the swirl pot and fit a new filter, but as with the shocks removing the bits has involved sheared rusty bolts and the hacksaw so while it's all stripped off I've been busy with the Hamerite and it will be assembled with stainless bolts !
eee' don't you just love classic cars
