While the wheels are off I've figured out why the drive shaft is clouting the exhaust - the angle of the connection between the rear section and the silencer is out by about 5 degrees making the pipe approx 1.5" lower than it should be over the axle so....

I'm going to grind off the weld to separate the flange from the pipe and the get it welded back up again in the right place, and add an extra mount. I can get the pipe tigged back up once I have it in the right place, problem is how to I tack it until I get it to the fabricators ?

Anyone know if a Gasless MIG will penetrate A2 stainless well enough to hold the flange in place until I get it welded ?, I would have thought that the steel content would be high enough for it to hold scratchchin

Second (Significantly more expensive) option is 316L electrodes for my trusty stick welder

No idea about a gasless mig but I've welded plenty of stainless with a mig/gas with no problem. As you only need to tack it I would have thought you would be OK. Cheers Steve
