Wonky Wedge Window

and it fell off its perch.

Turn off the footwell lights.
Remove screw from door opener, pop off all the retainers lift upwards over the door lock. Door handle can stay put.
Pull back plastic weather proofing.
Good luck with the innerds.
Sounds like one of the vertical runners might have fallen/rusted.
I have had this, the bit the glass sits on, Rusts and the window gets loose in the runner.
I cheated by filling the runner up with Silicon Sealant and stuck the Window in it!
The other thing which is handy to do this job is Small hands which I dont have, and plenty of money for the swear box.
have fun

Aah...my forte is cobbling things up from bits of rubbish...a la Blue Peter
Will get started once I've woken up....on hols now.

Hope it goes well Graham......I've got an old Blue Peter Badge somewhere

Ok, everything stripped everything off the door (in other words all the various bits of gaffer tape and old polythene
).
Vertical runners are fine, and glass is sitting firmly in bottom runner, but was out of front one. So I've persuaded it back into place without breaking anything.
What seems to have happened is that the BOTTOM part of the scissor-like lifting arrangement....trailing end (lock bit) of door, has another part that runs along a (bottom) guide channel, and THIS has come out.
This is allowing the front of the whole gismo to tip forward and dislodge the glass from the frame (which IS pretty wide, back and front).
SO...off I go to try and get this back in - thank goodness it's fairly accessible, and tighten up the bolt which appears to locate that part of the mechanism. Gawd I hate things I can't reach !

Oh well, job done.
Put the bit back where it was supposed to be and checked working of window, tightened up bolts that hold the small piece of channel.
Also put some insulating tape around all wiring connectors while I had access.
The innards generally look in good nick.
Renewed all gaffer tape, put panels in place, and now she's back in the garage.

BODGE ! ...moi ?
My gaffer taping is top quality !
Did I tell you that my dad was in the RN for thirty years ?
Did I also tell you that a couple of months ago the enormous and very heavy back box fell off my Marea Estate ?
Well the car just sounded no different except for a nice little rasberry on full thrap, so I dumped the excess lump of metal in the bin...end of.
eta: please email me your tel.no, as I may be honouring you with my company sometime.

Don't speak too soon...damned thing did it again when I got home yesterday.
I need the take that bit of channel out (only about 4" long...but probably should be 5 or 6) and fix it/fabricate a new one. I had hoped it would hold as was, but obviously not.
Still, this is how you get to know your car and its little foibles.
