Whats the coil for a 280i?
Discussion
Hi guys think my problem with my car might be the coil.
Any ideas what car the coil is originally from (same as Capri 2.8?) or does anyone have the correct part number?
I have checked the TVRwedgepages and seen there is a "booster" coil system (so this is obviously a common issue) but I would like to get a new (original) coil ASAP so I can double check if its the coil or not.
I have a local motorfactor that can source me the coil but need to know for sure which one i need, I can't get back to the car to get any numbers of the coil till this evening.
Thanks in advance guys.

Cheers for that I did hope that was the case (so have got a coil now) but I wanted to be sure as TVR seem to use bits from 12 cars when 2 will do....lol
I'm also panicing a bit about if I'll be able to take the car out on Sunday so want to be able to "test drive" it on Friday so I'm confident it will be ok.
I also have a new Ignition Module on order for tomorrow just in case the coil doesn't cure it.

Good luck mate. Ford used much the same stuff across the range during that era, so you should be ok.
I too have an important date on Sunday...just hope the 400 quid on rolling road and bits will be worthwhile.
I'll just look in my 2.8i Ford Haynes...
Funnily enough, only mentions there's a ballast resistor wire on the 3 litre Essex (book covers both engines), and mentions no differences between actual coils. Best stick it on and see...
