Trickie Dickie and me out at York drag strip today, with some pics and vids smile:

http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0...

I only got in 3 runs, and best time for me was 14.9, but was my first attempt and I'm an old bloke with the reaction times of a comatose snail. hehe

Thoroughly enjoyed it though, and next time I'll have had a good nights sleep.irked

Car ran brilliant, and I was up against the fastest tiv there on my fastest run...450 Chim with nitrous. eek

I was VERY slow off the line, and would have passed the Elise, given a few hundred yards more length.

Anyway, a great day out and I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Trickie beat a Tuscan ! biggrin

eta: Good meeting fellow Wedgers Carob and Hormone too. smile

Good effort! I assume you left the day NOT being the slowest? hehe

Wedges may not be the quickest - but they certainly sound good.

Edit: Did that Tuscan(?) blow up? Lots of smoke..

No, there were no TVRs blow up, it was a drag racing prepared Capri that blew up earlier and dumped a lot of oil on the far side lane, they then had to put cement down on the track and it was that which made it look like an engine had gone.

Oh the humiliation cry....fortunately can't hear commentary in-car.

My first run I forgot to even look at the lights, had never worn a crash hat before, and my head was jammed against the ceiling....hence removal of roof for the other two runs. hehe

Graham, you did very well, you were brave enough to go down the strip, that's more than I did and the main thing is you enjoyed it, that is the main thing above all.
I engoyed watching you too.

Thanks Kev.smile

I will be having another go, and hopefully will remember that I'm driving not spectating. hehe

Actually, after watching the sport for nearly 40 years there is an odd mental block there.
Also, your first instinct is not to abuse your car, unlike car magazine testers. I believe the 'official' quarter time for a new 400 was only 14.5 anyway.

I'm confident I can get down to 13s. getmecoat

Yes good day and good turn out of TVRs

2 wedges (mine and Grahams as mentioned) and lots of wheelspinning!!!
Wish I had a £1 for everyone who came up to me and said that my car was the best sounding of all the TVRs

Would recommend everyone to give it a try and not regret it later as everyone else enjoys it

Great video from Kevin especially the in car

Cheers
Richard
