My 350i has window frames that rattle like crazy when the windows are wound up. This seems to be the result of them not really be located very positively at the trailing edge of the doors. On the passenger side, someone at some point has put a screw through the top edge of the door to hold it to the plate, but this hasn't really worked and is in danger of splitting the GRP.

Has anyone else had this problem, or found a cure for it? Fiddling around inside the doors suggests that a better bet might be to pack either side of the runner with something - but that's as far as I've got at the moment.

Mine have felt lined runners.
If this has become 'worn out' on yours, maybe you could pack out the channels with some sort of soft draught excluding material?

Take off the interior door card and the rear slide is just bolted in. If I remeber correctly it is alos part of the door mechanism plate as well. I replaced all of my felt runners a couple of years back and it stopped a lot of the window rattling.
The felt was fairly cheap to buy by the metre, got mine from Baines Rubber Extrusions by mail order.

I don't think mine is quite the same problem. There may be some rattling in the runners, but in my case I think that most of the noise is coming from the movement of the runners themselves.

My o/s window does the same - I just drop it down slightly so it doesn't rattle against the screen pillar.
