Hi, I remember looking at that car a couple of years ago, it was £4995 then. It was on autotrader about 2 or 3 months ago for £4500ish, presumably purchased and then damaged recently. I also recall a friend of mine looking at it some 8 years or so ago. Pictures of the car are on wedgepages it had the reg tod***. E-mail me if you want more info.

Looks like the back end has come round and it's side-swiped something...pure supposition, and I'm probably wrong, but if it has, I'd be looking closely at the rear suspension too.

Ok guys thanks for your input,Any ideas what I should be paying for it approx (taking into account the accident damage and repair costs),I appreciate its difficult to tell by some pictures off the net but the car is miles and miles away from me so cant go and inspect it first.
Im ideally looking for a 350/390 or 400 that wants major mechanical work, cant really afford a great deal but have been hankering after a TVR ever since I was an apprentice at a local TVR dealer back in the 80's,Bodywork isnt my thing so would have to pay some one to do that for me but meachanical work I can do all day long !,really want a drop head but a fixed head would be ok IF it were cheap enough.
Sorry about all the Q's but hopefully I might be able to help somebody in return in the future.

Cheers

Hi Tris. smile

Well, putting sensible head on...this is a damaged car with no MOT.

Even with my impetuous nature there is no way I would offer money for this vehicle without first giving it a careful inspection and getting estimates for the repairs needed.

As a for instance: Yes you may easily get a new door, but that door needs to fit and is attached to a chassis member which may or may not now be straight.
What appears to be superficial damage can turn out to be a lot more involved and expensive.

You really need to look closely at this car, and it COULD end up being a bargain, but do go and look first before making offers (and wasting the sellers time wink).

There are nice cars(and usually known to the Wedge community) coming up on PH quite regularly, so perhaps worth a little wait if distance is a problem
for you.

Ok thanks for the advice,I guess Im being a bit impatient and rushing into things a bit,I should know really from years of experience that these things can go one of two ways, normally the disaster route !.
As I already mentioned I need Ideally to find one that needs mechanical work as this is not an issue for me (I served my apprenticeship at a TVR Dealer in the late 80's / early nineties) and have always promised myself that I would have a V8 wedge one of these days.
I'll have to sit back and bide my time I think until the right car comes along.
Why does everything have to be so far North ?,Im nr Canterbury close to Dover

Cheers

It might be worth asking about meets down your way as a separate topic.
Certainly there are plenty of Wedgers 'darn sarf', and TVR club meets.

In my experience the majority of Wedges are really cherished and well-maintained, and when they come up for sale can represent a real bargain compared to what else is available.

Of course mechanically knacked ones are probably quite rare, as the old RV8 is such a tough old unit (and the Cologne motor).

Perhaps you could consider upgrading a 280i ? smile
