Yes, not really a petrol smell, just a strong 'fumey' smell. The sort of smell that very quickly makes your clothes smell.

My wife complains & closes doors & windows whilst it ticks over on the drive. She says it 'stinks' hehe

I have looked at the spark plugs that look fine, i'm going to change the HT leads soon, see if that helps.

Edit to add: I only use V power, or at worse 97 octane.

Mines the same. It's similar to an exhaust type smell, but I don't think it is a leaky exhaust. It's just 'fumey' as suggested. It does linger on your clothes but clears away. I've put it down to 'Eau de TVR' as I don't know what to do about it. biggrin

I am always impressed Graham with the quality & effort you put into your replies. Ne na ne na ne na... hehe

Oh, forgot to say. No, definitely not a burning smell. It's just a strong fume. Shimples.

My engine has only done about 1400 miles since a complete re-build. My feelings are it needs a rolling road session.

I think I'm more a 'visual' person. hehe

I'd have thought bad smells were more likely to be down to exhaust leaks or something getting overheated though... can't think why engine tune would affect things; running rich, possibly.

Yes, rolling road it though please, then we can all see some power figures at YOUR expense...and you might even find the dead rat someone's shoved up the exhaust. hehe

It may well be overfueling. Have a sniff at the dipstick, any smell of petrol, change the oil and get it booked in for a dyno session soon as.
