Gordon Brown's company car policy means I've had to ditch my 4x4 company car in favour of an eco diesel car So now I have a tow capacity of 1500kg and a trailer of 434kg but need to pick up a non-running 350i.
Thus How heavy is a Series 2, 350i - Any Ideas

1163 Kg

Why not put battery, seats, roof panel and any other removables in the tow car?

Alternatively, engage the services of one of the car transporter companies. Not the classic car ones (unless you specifically prefer)because they are expensive but the usual day-to-day ones.

The car transporter method I think is not so daft.

It'll save you a lot of bother, worry about getting pulled, plus your time, petrol, assistance from someone else blah blah. Also the car transporter company will be insured so you will have some comeback against them if there are any problems/damage - check on this.

Then pay with your trusty credit card and you have extra protection from them (check your card)!

Firefox thats the number I thought it might be as I seem to remember some time back the 400 was weighed at 1160kg but the idea of taking bits off is sound. Transport company would equate to about 35% of the purchase price of this yet another Wedge to add to the fold - Doh - Can't help myself. Mind I did sell the series 1 and this is a series 2 to replace it so -status quo in terms of numbers (not music)

Tas -

Shop around - you might be able to get a transporter company (the sort that delivers cars to dealers etc.)to deliver it for you for £150 or so. A pal of mine can do me a good deal, but I doubt if he will offer it about to others. I suppose there might possibly be an extra charge for getting it onto the transporter if it is not running(?)

Loads advertise on ebay (shows as a £1 bid) - used one recently to shift an MX5 and was top service - will see if I can dig out the details..

Yep - still got the SEAC. Loadsa interest (mostly good and positive & thankfully few muppets). One guy viewed so far and he loved it but I convinced him to buy a Noble as he said he could afford one
For those who may slag me for this - drive one of the 6 speed 3 litre cars with the latest calibration "bl**dy awsome", he was also viewing Steve 'Gamekeepers' car which I suggested to him would most likely be a good'n, as Steve is a Tiv & Wedge head so wouldn't push tosh IMHO. So I guess I'm not in hard sell mode!
Got a viewing tomorrow and one on the 6th. Problem is head sais to sell which is why the advert but heart sais not so I come over a bit "cavalier" in my sales pitch.
Got a friends Trooper to pick the car up. (Even £150 is a big % of the purchase price)

Think we can all understand the 'non sell mode' Garry - as DP 400 will no doubt tell you when he came to view mine..

I've been hoping you'd sell it or decide to keep it so that it would remove any further temptation.. longer it's there, the shorter my nails are getting..
