I wondered why the handbrake wouldn't hold!
Discussion
Took Wedge to local garage (Station Hill, Farnham - know TVRs) this morning after experiencing inability of handbrake to hold on 1 in 10 hill (serviced & MOT'd about a month ago, no problems with brakes!). Turns out that a handbrake pad had fallen out (!!) - it looks as though the retaining spring had broken (probably been in there since new (
). Anyway new pads (Jag ???) are on there way to the garage from local factor. When the car was serviced the report said there was a weep from the clutch master cylinder. I said I'd get a service kit and fix it. Anyway, I noticed a couple of times that the clutch was slowly engaging when the pedal was pressed for a while - eg. creeping in traffic. So I asked the garage to service it. Turns out it needs replacing. the local supplier (TVR Power) are closed for stock-taking so a selection of likely master cylinders have been sourced from local factor. I need the car tomorrow (garage were told this), but I guess driving without a handbrake is illegal (and possible dangerous if pads are falling out!), but I could manage with teh old master cylinder ... if only they hadn't already stripped it off the car.
