I have a 350i with remote oil filter fitted on drivers inner wing. I have an oil leak on one of the steel 90 degree pipes that comes out of oil pump? and goes up to the remote filter. There is a piece of rubber hose between two 90 degree steel bends with unions.
Does anyone know where I can get a new 90 degree steel pipe and union from please or know what size the fittings are please. I have looked in the SH bible, rover SD1 manual and Rimmer Bros online but cannot find the part that I need. The bends that come off the remote filter housing look like the bottom one that I need but I cannot be sure.
I hope that someone knows what im talking about!

Edit, I think ebay will save the day. I just need to measure and find out if they are 1/2 or 5/8 inch BSP

Worst case, find a Pirtek branch, they'll almost certainly have something to do the job.

You may have to sell your first-born to pay for it though...

I used a 15mm plumbing compression elbow on mine (brass) dirt cheap and being BSP, screwed straight in.

The bend is a bit sharp, but doesn't seem to affect the oil pressure in anyway.

Ditto, did the same with mine when the elbow sheared off.

Other option is to take the hose and both ends to these people http://www.abbeyhose.co.uk/index.html and they will make you a new hose with compression fittings with the right ends on.
Going there tomorrow for them to re-make my oil cooler hoses.

Not got the oil cooler ones done yet, but a get a set of custom Hoses for the Truck PAS, and they are more complex then the oil cooler ones, and it was about £75 for the pair. took them about 30mins to make.

I use a local company Hydrasun, they may not be local to you but they have an online catologue that is handy to ID these types of parts, good value as well. I just replaced all my oil hoses with wire armoured hose, 1,300 psi WP so that should contain it !!! and at £5.50 per metre not bad.

All well and good using 1300 PSI hose, but if conectors are only held on with clips, then they can still come off. a part is only as strong as its weekest link. I've seen quite a few cars now that the hose has come off due to the clip. also with abraided hose you can get even less grip, as not all the force is transfered to the rubber part that connects to the conector. that why most profesional braided hose, has a double part conector, one part for the rubber and one part for the braid.

Yep absolutely right that's why I used the single armoured hose, this has a dual effect of allowing nice bend radius without hose collapse plus enough give to safely secure the hose onto the fitting, it may halp but my fittings have a bevelled edge where the hose meets. I fitted the first set of hoses about 3 years ago (Oil Cooler to thermostat) so still in place after a hard 15k miles, the latest was the remote filter area, they looked OK but I wanted belt and braces in prep for my Euro hoon.

Cheers

All sorted today. Had a hose made up by a local hydraulic firm, 90 degree bends all crimped onto reinforced hose which was a lot thicker than the pipe that came off. Rated to over 2500 psi so that should do the job! The only problem was that it wasn't as flexible as the original and as is only 10 inches long there wasnt any give in it to get the fittings square and bolted up. The remote filter housing had to come off the wing to get it together.
Cheers for all the ideas and info guys.

I had the same problem with the new one I had made, luckily they was a bit longer, and they put the bends in the same place as the ones I took them, my Hose's are now rated at 3500PSI don't think I'll get them that high though, even with a crank driven pump and 7000RPM
