Fareham, Hampshire to Crosby, Liverpool to Blackpool (including the Prom run) to Crosby, Liverpool to Fareham, Hampshire
818 miles
116.97 Litres or 25.71 Gallons of fuel (Shell V or BP Ultimate - why do so many motorway services have BP?) at a cost of £125.34
31.82 mpg
Yes, you read that right boys and girls - very nearly 32 MILES PER GALLON in a WEDGE!!!!!!!!!!
I think the phrase I'm looking for rhymes with "Clucking Bell"

Didn't know you came up from Fareham

My old haunt,

Parents still live in Funtly and Gosport

I only did 500 miles round trip from Reading but guessing I spent as much as you on fuel. I try not to count as it might scare me yikes Probably mid to high teens - I'm hoping under £150 spent on fuel smile

Having read the OP I thought I'd work out what the 400 did, 330 mile trip used £60 fuel worked out at 25MPG - that's better than my 1800 weber fed 700 kg kit car did !

Hmm, mine's probably 450 miles and 20 gallons, so 22.5 mpg, it was probably above 20 'cos the run up was relatively slow what with the traffic ;^) I made it up on a tank, but had to fill up on the way back!

Paul, Good to meet you again, glad to see the bottle top made it home.

I'll post the pics of our wedges outside the factory later today.

PS I came from Sheffield, Approx 250 miles round trip, via Castleton and Winnats pass (well it'd have been rude not to).

Hood off the whole way. Used 47l of unleaded, so that makes around 24mpg... 50% up on what I usually get when hooning.

Haha I'm now determined to see how long the bottle top stays there for now

Thanks again for all your help sorting out the fan

I must admit I was pretty staggered by the mpg and checked it a couple of times to make sure I hadn't fecked up the calcs biggrin

Did it run any cooler going home, especially since you also had to top up via the swan neck?

It was ok nearly all the way back to Liverpool then right at the last shot up for a few seconds and dropped down again. Checked the next morning and the swan neck and header tank were empty so refilled both again but this time left the overflow with only a very small amount (just enough to cover the end of the pipe - seemed much better from Liverpool to Fareham as a result but I was so cream crackered after getting home I just put the car away in the garage - will check again in a few days when the car next comes out.

I'll just keep topping and squeezing until the bu99er barsteward mower fower works its way out

I tell you what, driving at 60-70 (around the 2500rpm mark) on the motorway in a Wedge is pretty frustrating in so many ways, but in others so rewarding. The amount of cars, minibuses and vans that slowed down and wound the windows down as they were passing and then giving a thumbs up or a smile was staggering. I lost count!!

Ahh memories. Mine is still sat in the garage after it disgraced us on the way to Le Mans last year. BBWF looks amazing, would definitely like to do the next one. Your post has made me realize how much i am missing though, it needs a starter, good service and some open roads - maybe this weekend if i get chance.

Happy Motoring.

Ash.
