Don't be too hard on Tony, the gears stripped off the end of his camshaft => no oil pressure.

On most V8's that would be OK 'cos no dizzy too => no engine running. However he's running a trigger wheel and coil pack.

A salutary lesson, eh, Rev?

Sorry for the late posting....been stripping the bugger down today.

Sound test results, 3 readings taken on all cars;
1. tickover
2.4500rpm
3.Let it rip

Quietest on tickover
2L Steve Evans Cosworth Turbo..76.2db
V6 Andy Bloggs.................87.0db
V8 Paul GSX600 (450).........81.3db

4500rpm
2L Steve Evans Cosworth Turbo..98.4
V6 Andy Bloggs.................92.9
V8 J Middleton (350)...........118.6

L.I.R max DB
2L Richard.....................110.4
V6 Andy Bloggs.................99.6
V8 Paul GSX600.................122.2

7 cars pushed past the 120db mark, and Paul only beat Rob (carob) by .1 of a db
Adams car sounded really loud but only (eek) hit 118.4, thought he had it in the bag before we put the meter to his car

Tony - you know we won't be satisfied until we get all the numbers!! So what was my idle figure?

For some strange reason my exhaust sounds louder now ;^(

Sorry - I did not know ..

Luckily I won't be using that oil system on my motor. Gone over to the serpentine belt/crank/ oil pump system.. as the oil pump is better.

Whats the limit of most track days then ? Or even the Dunlop series ?

Might last one lap before something broke smile
