Brought one new wheel home for a test fit. Take a look and give your opinions they are a 15mm offset and 7.5 inches. They stick out about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch more than stockers. Inside their out about a 1/4 of an inch. This was the only one my tire guy could find that he thought would work. Am I gonna have issues with rubbing or not? How high do those wheels go when compressed? How do you think they'll look? Oh and they're also a little more bling then I'd prefer but at least they're round. Planning on 205/45 16s or if I don't have any issues with rubbing 205/50 16s.

'chedder' has 8j 400SE wheels on his, which JUST fit within the arches, as pictured below:

Note the deep 'dish' too, which IMO looks best on a Wedge.

I think maybe yours are not quite right. scratchchin

The wheels are 16mm out beyond what the stock wheel is. Do you happen to know how much further out the 8js are?

Yeah, I'm not totally sold with the design either but I do plan on keeping the car for oh, the next 50 years or so and know that 14" rubber will get harder and harder to get. It is as much about practicality as it is anything else.

Ben,
If you have any problem it's most likely going to occur on the tops and top rear of the rear wheel well under full compression.

Yeah, hence the plan to do the suspension in the winter with some upgraded springs. Besides I'm not quite sure what kind of suspension a previous owner did in the rear anyways.

Very bling! They're similar to 80's AMG Merc wheels but chrome. Am in two minds as to whether they'll suit or not. Appreciate that this post isn't much use but there you go!

Do early Tasmins with 14" wheels have a smaller total rolling wheel/tyre radius than later wedges? I only ask this because I have 16" wheels, but the tyres are 245/45 16 so presumably if you're using 205/45 16 tyres the wheel/tyre combination will be smaller.

Yes, but in-period balloons. wink

...Didn't make my old 280's ride any softer though:

If this link works it should take you to a handy tyre size calculator / comparison site, just type in your chosen sizes. I've just tried it and it suggests the tyres you mention have a 36mm diameter difference.

Too shiny for my personal tastes. Seeing it drive by would be like talking to a black pimp with a gold tooth. Whatever floats your boat though...

I do agree about upgrading sizes to something more common today. Practically nobody makes my stock 225/50/15's anymore.
