Hi HP nice to hear the car is back on the road. Could be an air leak that. Get yourself some 'Blue Hylomar' from Halfrauds & re seal the plenum & trumpet base down. Could be a myriad of other things too mind
but I had the same symptoms as that after I did my head gaskets.
So there is no upper intake gasket then? I was surprised to see a metal on metal joint on my wedge without even so much as high heat RTV silicone.
but I had the same symptoms as that after I did my head gaskets. When I put my plenum back on I'll use a hammer and tap out a thin gasket from gasket paper. No vacuum leaks in my wedge when it's done!
tried the petrol first - same same
cant find leaks with wd40
i'm thinking airflow meter ot throttle pot but not sure pot would cause hunting at all revs
my pot seems to operate strangely compared to the test in wedge epistles can some one let me know the values they are getting on their car ?
back to the tinkering after 18mts feels strangely familiar !
great to be back

Just curious, why wait 18 months to get the wedge out if it was in running condition all along?
On another note, I think you might have owned my old car, E370PSG?
If so, do you know if it was ever involved in a front end collision?
I was reading if the receipts collection for the car it got a front spoiler repair, new oil pan, new engine and a new steering rack all around the 40 thousand miles mark, give or take a thou... That sounds like someone curbed, (kerbed?) my car and would explain all the front end chassis problems I'm currently sorting out 40k miles later. Can you shed any light on this?

hi brap
yep i owned the car for only a few weeks
i took it in part exchange from silverbackmike in bristol and sold it on to a nice chap in oxford i think
cant help with the history i'm afraid as i only changed a blowing manifold and didn't really go over the thing, handled like poo if i remember
will add the fuel filter to my list of bits to change (which is looking big and expensive)
car was in storage as i had a mid life crisis packed in my job and went to tour the world on an old motorbike - good it was too

Not exactly the HUNTING problem you describe but this deserves to considered.

A more likely explanation is a rogue air leak or a component connector problem
All very simple to check out

after that its a component goose chase - everything you need is here

Go for testing the the mixture control components first
CTS, Throt Pot, AFM, FPR, ECU, in that order.

Yes, I px'ed it for a v8s with Rich which pops its head up every now and then on here.
I bought the wedge from a nice chap in Newcastle who bought it from hexam carriages which is or was a good reputable garage.
No idea if it had a bash in it's previous life but always struck me as a good wedge.
Mike.
