I'd like to buy these re-man front calipers, http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk/contents/en... but they don't ship overseas. I tried ebay but nobody has them.

Would anyone be willing to accept delivery of two calipers, stick my address on the box then allow UPS to collect them? The UPS shipping fees would be covered by me of course.

Hi Guys

This is Dave from BrakePartsSuperstore.org.uk

You could always, pay for, then arrange for your UPS to collect from us :-)

This would be acceptable if we know when the courier would collect from us

Regards

Dave

Thanks Dave. Your FAQ says "no in person pickups" though...

Can anyone confirm these "Ford Granada" front calipers are indeed common to my 390se? BCA0253 and BCA0852 on page: http://www.brakepartssuperstore.org.uk/contents/en...

In pictures they look identical but I know some auto parts places reuse images as generic representations and it would cost a bloody fortune to order the wrong stuff when you can't return it.

If those are indeed the calipers I need I'll order them today. It would cost too much to ship the cores back, so I'll pay the full core charge too.

Hi

UPS courier collection (as long as we know in advance) are OK as we use UPS in any case for our UK deliveries

The pictures we are showing are not generic, they are the actual units

I can say that they are a Lucas / Girling caliper Used with a 13.0mm Thick disc, Have 2 pistons of 54.0mm in diameter

If you want them I can get them shipped from our whare house to here then notify you by email once they have arrived, should be tues or wednesday of next week, then you can send in the courier to collect

regards

Dave

Thanks Dave.

I think you may have responded before I edited my post.
Originally I had stated the wrong part number. According to the pics it looks like I need BCA0852 &3. My rotor is vented, 22mm thick (or what's left of it)and my piston appears to be 49mm or so.

OK

The calipers we are showing BCA0852 / BCA0853 are in-stock and the pic on the web shop is the actual pic and NOT a generic pic

Details:

Lucas Girling 2 Pistons per caliper with a piston diameter of 54.0mm, used with a 24.0mm thick vented disc

I can not say if they are OK with the TVR 390SE as we do not have any info on the calipers fitted to this vehicle, but they are usually granada parts in anycase and as a matter of interest the 390se uses the same pads as the granada BPS1660

Order them tonight and I can pick them up from the wharehouse in the morning (Saturday)so you can get UPS in here anytime from monday morning on

I have to go in about 10 minutes, late night paperwork has now finished, if you order them today select "mainland UK" as the delivery destination address and enter YOUR final delivery address (which I take from our logs is Canada)and mark it for the attention of Dave, I will know what to do then get UPS to collect from me at the address on our contact page on Monday

You can call me on Monday, if you wish on +44 1709 880 393

Regards

Dave

I think there might be some misinformation on your site maybe?

According to your site, for a 390SE front pads should be: BPS1660 and look like this:

Those are definately not what I have:

Mine do appear to be these: BPS1674

According to the description for the pads, they are for use with 2.8L Granada's. According to the pics of the related calipers,BCA0852/3 it looks like my setup.

What's the deal I wonder? Did someone uprate my brakes at some time?

If for whatever reason I would need to return them would you accept the return? AFAIK I can't see why they're not the same.

Alright, they've been ordered.

If I'm not mistaken as a non-UK resident I'm VAT exempt. Also your shipping charge doesn't apply in this case.

Delivery £7.95
VAT 15% (inc): £29.63

If you could refund my Mastercard to that effect I'd be much obliged. smile

Thanks,

Mike

I thought the 390 vented type brakes were from a a Granada MK2 ESTATE.('station wagon' in N.America ) smile

Oh, and people do uprate the brakes (but I believe yours to be standard if they're not 4-pots), as my 280i FHC had been fitted with vented discs...which is why I couldn't get a spare set of 'original' type wheels to fit, while I had the retro-fitted cross spokes re-furbed. banghead

Thanks to the edification of Clarkson, Hammond and Captain Slow, I knew that. Those nice lads even taught me how to properly pronounce coupe koo-pay. hehe

Hmm...I'd say I have Jeremy's attitude (fellow Yorkshireman and smoker) combined with Capt. Slow's driving ability and dress sense frown

I just checked the hours of the local UPS depot. I can't see them until Monday, so pickup should be Tuesday then.

I was just using the UPS website cost calculator based on a 25lb estimate... damned near $265 for the shipping. frown By the time I pay the duty/taxes I'll be looking at $800 front brakes. Thank God the rear brakes are only coming from Idaho and cost $36 using the US postal service.

[edit] I just recalculated the rate using a commercial address as the end destination. That saves $30. smile I'll send them to my place of work instead.[/edit]

Hello there, just a suggestion on couriers. Don't book direct with the courier if you don't have a (discounted) contract with them.

Use a 3rd party agency, I use www.p4d.co.uk (for example and there are other similar ones, not affiliated with them, etc, etc) for shipping regularly and it's much cheaper than booking direct.

12kg - 25cm x 25cm x 25cm (I guessed) is £47.38 with DHL

Save you a few pennies anyway smile

Hi Mike

Ouch !

The exact weight and dimensions, just incase you can shop around are as follows:

Weight 12.2 Kilos

325 x 220 x 230 mm

I am afraid the calipers are a tadge on the heavy side to which I can do nothing about, unless you want me to remove the pistons that is wink

As to the pick-up time / day, that is no problem whatsoever

Regards

Dave
