I'm racing a 1988 350i in the TVR Speed Champ. The gear stick is in an awkward position for speedy gear changes, not helped by a racing seat with quite large wings. Has anyone attempted to move the gear stick or put in a "linkage" to put it in a more natural position? Thanks.

What I've done and a few others also, if it not that far out, 6 or so inches,
Get a wire coat hanger, bend then so you get the knob where you want this,
Then get some 10mm steel bar. and then bend this to the shape of the coat hanger wire. take the gear stick and selector off, then cut the old gear stick off, and then weld the bar to the selector, then you have the knob in a much better position.

Thanks. Sounds like the most straightforward approach! Cheers.
