Well i have ended up with a 390SE, a 400Se and now a 450SE, also Esprit V8.

Is anyone interested in any sort of shared ownership scheme, as in i already have the cars, you can buy a half / 1/3 share kind of thing, share one share them all ?

Details will need bashing out.

Regards

Could get complicated as far as maintenance/insurance/driving is concerned ?

There are quite a few fractal ownership clubs about, got some legal paperwork already sorted, maintainance is split ( DIY is potencial ), insure the car on a limited mileage policy, 3 fair months 3 not so fair months for example

rough costs,£6k gets you a V8 Esprit, £3.5k a 450SE, £2k a 400SE / and or 390SE

bit simplist for sure but its not that complicated

Sounds quite a good idea - most light aircraft are owned by small syndicates of like-minded people, although the advantage with aircraft is that they're generally kept in a `neutral` location all the time anyway. Where would the cars be kept?

Hi,

The idea is good, the practical aspects in truth i am not sure about, i am co owning a lamborghini Countach replica and so far no problems.

Kept, well I have secure storage and also garaging at home, co-owners, well your 6 months at your house I would presume, as in you want it there to use the car ?

Muliples well, two, then you would have one at your house for 6 months , then swap, 3 then two at your house for 6 months, then one and so on.

Is that what you meant?

Guys

I mentioned this scheme up in the North of Scotland a few months as I have four mates on the Rigs/Oil supply boats who have a cruiser boat share scheme and I'm considering something next year sharing maybe with a TVR V8s
Advice from a another PHer :- "This isn't all that uncommon for higher value purchases. I have friends with shares in planes and they work a similar way to your friend and his boat.

If I was doing a classic car then I would want to see the follow as a basic start:

Equal shares between members.
Initial 'fighting fund' started with, say, £750 (poss too low depending on the marque you're after) from each member to cover unforseen eventualities.
Per mile charge to cover wear and tear so people covering most miles pay more.
Mileage logs to cover every movement of the car and who drove.
Any accidents/claims to be handled by the driver at the time. Any excess to be paid by the driver too.

What sort of car are you after? Have you got a dry and covered area to keep it? I suspect that the care of the car will be the biggest issue. Some drivers may be less sympathetic than others.

Hope this helps.

James
