Looked at FHC yesterday
Discussion
I thought anyone else looking might want to know about the car.
1981 FHC S1, 95,000 miles, tax and long MOT.
I was pleasantly surprised at the finish on the bodywork...above average paint and hardly a scratch or scrape.
Chassis,I didn't really look as closely as I should (my fault), but looked ok overall.
Interior fine, including wood, except for faded carpets which do spoil it.
Electrics and gauges all appear to work except fuel gauge, and lights operate correctly.
Wiper works. Windows work.
New door and window seals all round, and new tailgate and bonnet supports.
The car was dry inside and I took it out in the rain and it didn't leak...
Engine sounded very sweet and had some power. Forgot to check exhaust system.
Clutch seemed fine and gears changed smoothly.
Brakes worked, and handbrake appeared to function.
Sunroof fitted (just to make Comedyadis's day
) and didn't leak.
Original fitment wheels in good nick, and new tyres.
POWER STEERING fitted !
...what a difference compared to my old non-PAS FHC !
Battery moved to boot. Proper wheel cover and all trim present.
1600 quid is not a lot of money I'd say.
Makes you think, eh

about 1 year ago i bought a 2.8 FHC in green metallic in spot-on condition. full history. totally original. past 5 years serviced by david gerald. 5 speed box, vented discs at front. complete new stainless exhaust system. goodridge braided hoses. first paint(!!!). chassis unwelded and like new. no waxoyl, nor underseal, factory grey powdercoating 100% intact!!!! car well known in the club. one of the former owners was Stuart Hall.
1500pound!!!
due to personal circumstances i had to sell it and the car is running now in france.
recently it was again for sale, as the actual owner wants a 2+2.
the starting price at ebay.fr was 3000euro (what is nearly nothing compared to other prices in france) and nobody bid!

due to your descriptin i guess it was it!!
wrong mirros. original blue metallic, now red!!! the interior (seats, dash..not the carpets!!) matches perfect to the original color but not to red.
anyway: red is for girls and not for a such a car!!
wrong mirrors. alloys painted and not like original: painted pot, polished rim (i could imagine where these wheels come from)
the carpets with the red piping are not original, too.
and .....yeah: an uglylookingcheapishpronetoleakaftermarketsunrooffromyourdoit yourselfmarketaroundthecorner.
the car does not look too bad...but: no pictures of enginebay (is it painted red?) and no chassis pictures.
if you can get it down on 1200 it should be a good buy (if the chassis is good--> mot does not prove anything in this matter!!!)
also to check: does it has already a cable clutch or is it a hydraulic-model, with the slave cylinder inside bellhousing!!!
