...and such sellers know how to push up prices b4 the auction ends, avoiding any ebay-fees for reserve-price and buy-now....

anyway: the car looks nice on the pictures...but as usual...no underneath pictures to prove the most important thing!!

front wing scratched at corner, left headlamp pod too low, "nice" cd-player incl. speakers in doorcards, poor carpets. nothing serious in 1st view but no enginebay nor underneath picture

I know the car had engine problems earlier in the year, so would find out who repaired it.

Well well. There it is again. I wonder if it's had a new rear plastic window.

It is clear that I really must learn from chaps such as Marks6900 how to advertise on ebay. It seems the secret is to be positive all round and not mention any little defects such as stone chips - which I have always thought was obligatory to do. Shame he changed the steering wheel - after I sold it I later found I still had the original round wheel. Clearly he doesn't need it now.

I didn't put in the statement as to power at 300BHP as we all know that TVR were a little optimistic with their power figures, and so I didn't feel I would be making an honest, accurate statement if I put that in.

I hope he gets a good price for it - better than I got in fact. But it will hurt a little if he does!

Leigh - presumably you are talking about the misfire problems I had with my car - the one now on ebay again. All my worries about an engine rebuild were unfounded.

It had a fuel injection overhaul and when sold it was running beautifully. At the end of all the investigations and changes of fuel lines, new plug leads, dizzy cap, checking and cleaning injectors and so on, a remaining misfire was found to be down to plugs - would you believe it!

Thank you for all your time in discussing the problems with the car with me - thanks also to Campbell who tended some support. It's just a little frustrating that I had to withdraw the car from sale earlier in the year due to the misfire developing, when there were one or two people interested in it. But interest does not necessarily equal sale!

Cheers!

Hmm - I just decided to take a closer look at the ebay ad, and I notice:-

badges removed
interior dash and centre console painted black

I did look at the idea of doing the dash, centre console and door strips in yellow, but didn't get round to it - or should I say the paint shop guys didn't have an available window to do the work.

Also I did look at removing the 'AC' part of the badges, but was concerned about damaging the paintwork - or was that one of the things the paint shop guys were going to do?

So it seems the seller has carried out one or two improvements to the car, so I hope he does well.

It seems it sold for the same price I sold it for - £4,100.

It's a shame it didn't fetch a bit more, as the seller had seemed to make a few improvements to the car. I wonder where the snake's head gear lever and Dan Dare steering wheel went? I quite liked those.

Perhaps you should buy them back and put them on your Aston smile

300horsepower?

most grief 500s make about 280, and my 390se makes about 230. I reckon 240 - 250 unless its been breathed on?

Be nice to see it go to an enthusiast rather than do the rounds with the dealers.

Hmm - I think the bright yellow of the snakes head gear lever fob might clash a little with the Aston interior.

300 BHP - that's why I made the comment above about me not stating the horsepower when I advertised it. But it was almost alarmingly urgent in how fast it was before one or two mechanics 'detuned' it.

I shall miss it, and I'm sure the new owner will love it.

That's what happens when you get a mate (or use your spare Ebay account) to try and jack the bidding up: you end up stuck with it wink
