Got my new gauge from Marshall and of course the previous owner had run an aftermarket gauge so I'm missing the fittings which go from the engine to the "hose". Does anybody know what gauge stuff and thread style that I would need? Basically I need what goes into the block which then the stock "hose" bolts onto. I'm hoping to get something on by this weekend for the woodwork as the current gauge is just hanging out where my knee wants to be.

Thanks

Ben,
Below is a pic of mine, it is an 85 series 1.5 with VDO guages.
Try your local parts people, using ford ranger, six cylinder mustang or Mercury Capri.
Or call Marshall and see if he can bring one to woodwork.
Note. Sender must be compatable with guage, I have no idea what guages were in the above cars. But they are fairly cheap you could buy a couple smile

Sorry, mine is a smiths mechanical gauge so it sends oil up to the dash.

Ah...two choices
1, get Marshall to get the part
2, get a 1/4" or 1/8" NPT bolt and see if it threads easily into the hole, if it does get a 1/4 or 1/8 flare fitting fitted to your copper pipe (I assume it's copper)
Or better still remove existing fitting to check thread size/type.

No Jeff its the hose side that I can't find, Block isn't an issue but there is a fitting which goes between the block fitting and the hose. It is metric, looks to be BSP fittings which are hard to come by locally and I have no way to determine size so I can order from a place like Pegasus.

The British 3 litre Essex engine used a capillary tube from engine to gauge...maybe they shared the same size fitting as the Cologne V6...if spares are available for that engine over there. scratchchin

I should have one ordered from my local hyro. shop. The fitting is as follows British Pipe Standard 1/8 (one side is tapered and other is straight).

Just my 2 cents but if at all possible I'd convert from a mechanical to an electric gauge. Having had an oil hose spit and had HOT oil spraying around behind the dash and then dripping (pouring?) down on my err thigh, I would not deliberately do that again. And cleaning the carpet was a joy too.
