At least half those probs are missing/bad grounds.
Clean them up, apply a spot of dielectric grease.

You may find the hazard problem is dirty switch contacts. Same happened with mine as the switch is not used very much (Honest!) the contacts corrode. Flick the switch several times or spray with some switch cleaner to get it working properly.

Opposite stalk moving could indicate the fixing to the steering column is not ok. When I remember well the whole surrounding holding it is made out of plastic, which can break. Type of stalks is rover sd1. Perhaps unbolting, glueing it back to gether and rebolt will do the job.

The switch assembly is held to the column tube by a split clamp: overtightening the split clamp snaps it and the whole assembly is looser than a Middlesbrough schoolie on J2O.

Even if the clamp hasn't broken, the column tube can slop around a bit taking the switches with it. Another quality BL part, and when you consider that the SD1 was supposed to be targetted at middle-management types, it's no wonder they all switched to Audi 100s.
