Why can't we get this power out of our RV8's?

Pah, fit turbo's to a rover of similar capacity and it'll easily pass that. Just look at some of the things done with buicks. Good job Clive's done there though.
yeh but then you can always turbo the ajp
just waiting for fatjon's car to get on the rollers now!

Steve,
All that extra work and cost for only 400 horses - hardly seems worth the trouble.
There'd not be any difference in cost for a all ali naturally aspirated SBC that would comfortably match that.
Yes, I know it will no longer be a Rover.
Was at ACT earlier today to hear D. Vizard speak. His earlier exploits in his 1700cc Hillman Avenger eating the Cosworths at Brands brought back memories in my old head.
It's all in the head.
So we need a shootout between Wildcat & big valve Buick heads which are used in the US by those that know.

Many years ago I was going to get some Grand National heads and replicate them for the rover. Luckily, whilst about to order some I met Ian Richardson so saving myself a lot of money. There's no point reinventing the wheel and I'm fairly certain his Wildcat heads are very similar to buick heads.
PS, Phil, is that the De Tomaso in your profile? Looks very nice.

Hi Mike,
Ok on the heads. I have a good friend in the US who has done some flow bench work with the Buicks and I believe is intending to run some on his twin-turbo V8 Triumph TR8. I hasd a TR7 in a past life and it was pant's, I'm sure a TR8 is still pants but with a V8 growl.
He did say I would probably need new pistons in my RV8, maybe that's to do with chamber volumn?
Yes, the De Tomaso is the image in my profile.
Same engine as the early Pantera's as you may know being an engine man. When Clevelands ran out they fitted the Windsor V8's to the very late P-cars and the short lived Pantera Si.
A local hot rod shop is completing the top end build on my 408 stroker Cleveland (CHI heads & intake) for the DT.

Interesting stuff Phil. I've had a 5.0 rover and a 4.5 rover both TT in my TR8 and they go really well like that so your mate will be very happy Ok on the heads. I'm going to use my Darton ls7 TT next. He's making bigger bowls in your pistons to lower your compression to whatever he thinks will allow a decent amount of boost safely.
I don't know much about Panteras save that they look really good and I like the idea of american muscle underneath. I once saw a blue one with a rear spoiler in Nottingham and it was the dogs danglies. Only thing letting it down was some gold paint here and there which looked a bit chav. I'd have loved a go in it though. That was about 10 years ago.

Mike.
Just had a good read of all your work on your website, or should I say websites
you've registered a whole bunch of domain names.
Good idea in the search engine position department.
We do the same, one company behind a bunch of e-commerce sites. Just like everyone who thinks those insurance comparison are offering competitive quotes - same guy behind most of the companies listed!
Back to power. Talking generally here and not specifically RV8.
Do you have facilities to mill up a nice plunum chamber like on this Gale Banks TT system:

and can you design a TT system for V8 engines out of the normal Cheby, Ford or Rover?
BTW, here's one of my favourite Pantera shots:

A fellow DTDC member giving his very last RHD GT5S somev serious stick at Goodwood.

I dunno about there, but here I could buy a fresh 440hp 347 stroker in a crate for far less than it would cost to build a 400hp rv8...
...dunno if it would sound as nice tho.
Since having bought an rv8 powered car I`ve read very little to suggest big bullet proof numbers can be attained reliably.
