Thanks Rev, I have already got a few enquiries out with the breakers but would rather give the cash to a tivver if possible
Is there much difference between the 4HA and the 4HU?
Dave.

4HU is the diff you need.
Common ratios are 3.07 3.31 3.54 3.7
If you need a higher ratio then you will need to have a second hand diff re-built with a new CWP.
You need to look for a diff from an early 3.6 XJS or a daimler hearse (i kid ye not) for a 3.54 ratio to find cheap second hand, not sure what the 3.7 was fitted too
I assume you want the 4hu because its a straight swap with the existing??
a Cosworth diff is available with more ratios, peanuts second hand and most importantly is about 1/3 of the weight of the 4HU. The downside is that you will need to fabricate a diff mount to hang it in the car and make up some new driveshafts, If you are also running inboard brakes then this will also need to be considered.
There was a place called Jag breakers in Radcliffe near Bury who used to be a good source of cheap 4HU's.
Also Dave. Be careful there are 4 types of diff fitted to jags 3 of which are non the 4HU and are much less strong. 4HU is fitted to early pre 1983 cars

Just found it.
When I was there it was a shed on a river bank with scattered cars and you had to take your own tools
Reasonably cheap though.

Thanks for all that good info Neil. I want to just fit the powerlok mechanism into my existing diff and use the existing 4.2 to 1 ratio CWP. I understand that there may have to be some machining to get it to fit. Just waiting to hear back from Grubloggers.co.uk as the my have one in stock. Spoke to Jagbreakers but they are taking the piss on the price.
