Hi all wedge fans

I've just bought my first Tvr, a nice 350i it sounds amazing and its just passed it's mot.

However, on the way home my cable came off of the accelerator pedal, not a problem i thought, i'll just slip it back on. After re-connecting i then noticed that the cable wouldn't shift and it seems to be seized, any ideas?

Thanks

Welcome to Wedgedom!
The best bet is to work through the throttle system from the plenum chamber back to the pedal.....or the other way round! I'm sure you will find the problem as their are only three moving parts!biglaugh

I'm trying to do most of the work on my own and learn more about the car and engine, is there a good manual or anything on the net i can look at?

Thanks

I have found Steve Heaths 'the TVR wedges' manual handy since I got my wedge earlier this year, plus http://www.tvrwedgepages.co.uk has information on it for problem solving.

As above, Steve Heaths Wedge Bible and also Haynes Manual for the the Rover 3.5 SD1 (more engine info for your Wedge).
Good luck with your 350, hope you have fun and not too many head scratching problems!

A very warm welcome.

It's probably a snapped throttle cable.

Just but a bicycle brake cable from Halfords and secure it with a electrical connector block or if you have AA home start - give them a call and they will fix for free.

Hi rev-erend

The cables in one piece, i think the problem is in the Throttle Body as the lever won't budge on the side of it. Looks like i'm going to get my first bit of Tvr oil on my hands.

Thanks

More likely that some of the strands have frayed off at the pedal end because the metal is sharp - then it starts to jam inside the sleeve.

If you don't damage the sleeve then yes, use a bike brake cable and all will be well.

I managed to catch mine in time and was able to re-braid the frayed end and soldered a new nipple on the end and it was as good as new...

Make sure you take the sharp bits off where it was fouling or it will happen again...

Thanks guys for all your help, i took the intake off and found that the butterfly valve was stuck from carbon, a good clean and she's away again.

Thanks again
