Following advice given on this very forum a few weeks ago I got ny regular garage to replace the high pressure fuel pipe. The mechanic said it wasn't too bad (1985 car) but at 25 years old is a worthwhile precaution.

I also asked him to think about fitting another fuel filter on the low pressure side of the fuel pump.

The swirl pot only confuses matters!

Anyway - I wanted to ask if anybody else had added a fuel filter after the tanks, how did you do it and do you have photos.

Think there is a picture of a pre-filter on at the end on the thread of brap_brap on his 'restoration' called: My nightmare... errr restoration

Not the best picture but you can see the purple pre pump filter. Brought from Fuel System Enterprises.

I went clear with mine due to keep my eye on rust in the tank/swirl pot.

I fitted a BULLET filter before the fuel pump on my 400SE.
Originally it had a paper element which restricted fuel flow at high engine powers when the fuel tank was less than half full.
Changing the paper element for a wire mesh element solved the problem.
Bullet filter and mesh insert were bought from Demon Tweeks.

Mike - are you rebuilding a Morgan there? ;^)

Sounds like a good idea - presumably the pump can handle fine stuff and it's the big lumps you need to strain out there Hamish?

How about one of these:

Can't go wrong for 3 quid, although I'd add a metal shroud to protect it from stones.

If it does not have the flow capacity you need .. well it could go very wrong.

Running very lean at the top end and causing issues as I believe Hamish mentioned above.

Holy thread resurrection....

Anyone any idea's where to get 25mm fuel pipe from? Seems a bit chickens teeth, awaiting a call back from TVR car parts and the other usual suspects do not stock it. Apart from Samco, 60 odd notes for a meter yikes Only need the bit from the tanks to the swirl pot, may as well replace the lot.

Hi Mate..Is it 25mm ID or OD?..(inner dimension or outer)..You might be better off finding out what the inner dimension is and then plumming it into google..Car builder solutions will probably have it..Is it high pressure fuel hose..Cheers..Ziga

ID, car builders do not have it and its low pressure, gravity feed from the tanks. Local factors say no as well.

Ah, cheers Mark, did not think of marine use. There are a few chandlers around here (well, Swansea and Cardiff). Never bought anything of ebay though. Got to drain the tank first, had me stanly and saucer ready and thought I had better do it proper so waiting for the jerry can. Gauge said 1/4 or just under. Thought about dumping it in the other car but I do not know how bad it is.

Arco used to do a range of this type of hose, not sure if they still do.
I have a few yards of high-pressure oil-rated hose lying around waiting to be fitted to be my car, not sure if it's as large as 25mm ID, maybe OD... made by Trelleborg I think. Google might be your friend?

It's been discussed before but I think it's f/k/a (archaic?) 5/8th ID fuel line which is/was a standard marine size no doubt with some metric equivalent. Grady

Cheers all, this is getting silly. There used to be an excellent hose supplier down the local industrial estate, could not find it so I suppose they have gone under, same with the prop shaft firm and the fasteners supplier.

If TVR car parts do not come up then its down the chandlers with a yo ho ho and a bucket of rum.

You might get a discount if you say "Ahoy me matey" on entering the shop..On second thoughts you better not..hehe
Yes it is a shame when these particular companies stop trading..I think modern made cars kill certain industries and they become few and far between..And then expensive..Good luck with the hoes..Whoops i mean hose..Ziga

I resurrected this thread for the piccies and to jog memories.
I thought I would pop down that place I went to last time (many years ago), nope, gone. The prop shaft place did the damaged yoke on the Vixen and supplied the grease nippled U/J. Even offered to fit for free if I took the bits in. Bit of a shock as bits start to go on the old gel.
