Taking me engine to bits as head has a leak, am surprised the valve lifters move up and down in the aluminium block, should there be a sleeve as I would have thought the alloy would wear?
The lifters move relatively slowly and are fed with lots of oil, both for lubrication and to preload them hydraulically. I think they're also case-hardened which reduces the possibility of any 'pick-up' between the metal surfaces.
