Just had a look at the 'who's coming' thread - that's interest in 23 rooms so far, so I'm guessing about 50 in total when we get nearer the date.

I got the confirmation in the post from Ettington today so we are well and truly booked in, and they are quoting a room rate of £55 per night including VAT if you quote the BBWF booking code, which I think is extremely reasonable (and possibly cheaper than 2 years ago.)

In fact you can book from now on, if you so desire.

On the organisation front I'll start looking into the usual suppliers who come along on the day, and contacting them to make them aware of the date. Any suggestions for more stalls please PM me - the more the merrier!

On the food front I think the hotel's hog roast (with veggie option) looks reasonable value, more details on the options will follow. On a personal note I don't like the beer _that_ much at Ettington, I usually end up on Guinness, so if there's interest from you lot I'll see if there's a possibility of getting a real ale tap going.

Suggested beers -

Abbott Ale (Greene King)
Broadside (Adnams)
Special Bitter (Youngs)
ESB (Fuller's)
Bishop's Finger (Shepherd Neame)
Director's (Courage)
Old Peculier (Theakstons)
Burton Ale - (Ind Coope) is this still about.
Speckled Hen (Morland - now Greene King)
6X (Wadworths)
XXXB (Bateman's)

And a few more I just can't call to mind at the moment. There's also Abbott Reserve at 6.5% which may be too much for most.

I've used the old traditional brewery names as it's hard keeping up with who owns/brews what these days.

Most are not that near though - how about Wychwood or Hook Norton? Both do a nice drop.

All sounds good Adam. I've got a sound meter I can bring if we fancy a loudest Wedge comp. I'll have to get it calibrated at some point.

Just booked in but they are saying 55 for single and 65 for double occupancy. Breaky inclusive.

Yes -

Hobgoblin (Wychwood)
Old Hooky (Hook Norton)

were a couple I couldn't think of at the time.

Where did Rev's original thread go saying he didn't fancy the hotel's beer much and suggested asking if they could put on a real ale or two? That's why I listed the suggestions.

That's probably correct, £55 seemed too cheap ;^) but is reasonable for a single.

Alan - now you're on the dole - isn't is "8 Ace"?

Sorry to hear it by the way, but didn't you do the sensible thing and buy the shinney parts while working, so now you're off, have time to fit them?

Yes - I think I have most of the parts now ... just need the time to finish the exhaust .. then reassemble after that ..

I doubt there is a more suitable Wedger's tipple.
