I have a 1988 390se, the exhaust needs to be replaced. I am looking to do the whole system including headers in stainless. The last one I bought, for another wedge, was a real pain to fit and needed the help of a local engineering company to correct some of the bends - you can guess I will be going somewhere else this time. Anyone recommend a system that fits correctly straight out the box. Thanks.

Either RT Racing to get it sent to you for DIY fit or go to a local specialist custom set up who would do the fit as well - make sure they know about TVR RV8's as you can gain power from someone who has done one before .Powerspeed are at Ashford but don't know if they've done a Tvr before .

Suspect it was more like the car not fitting the exhaust.... With no 2 cars the same it must be difficult to make 'off the shelf' parts like exhausts. Factor in all the mods owners do and it turns into a nightmare. It may be safer to get someone to make and fit, as going to a different supplier may not be any better. Many of the exhausts supplied by the dealers are made by JP Exhausts in Macclesfield. You could try them direct.

My manifold dilema has been going on since July. Almost got it sorted but I would say that off the shelf is a real hit and miss game with fitments. Brought my manifolds from the most recommended supplier on here and it has been a complete nightmare. Bespoke is the way to go. I gave up in the end, brought some bends and fabricated my own outlet pipe. Thread and pictures to follow at a later date.

P.D. Gough were good for me a long time ago but they are a long way from Kent, unless you do on business up the M1 that is. They keep the car for the day and do a great job.

I agree that this is the problem. Remember that TVR gave the manifold a wallop to make it fit inside the top chassis rail.
If you want a guaranteed fit then you wouldn't be the first to travel from Kent to Macc; alternatively buy the JP system through 2sheds and it'll be cheaper, strange but true.

Anyone tried Longlife exhausts clicky

A colleague recently had the Leeds branch fit a full system to his V8 jeep and was really pleased with the quality of the system and their service.

My 400 has an RT system which has also needed some "adjustments" to get it to fit properly so a bespoke system made to fit your car is probably a better option.

In Ashford. Not off the shelf, but custom made (so perhaps not what you are looking for). I can vouch for their work as they have done some good stuff for us in the past.

Another vote for PD Gough.

Especially if you are expecting to keep the car for a long while.
