how much attention do wedges get? really?
Discussion
When I was pootling down the M1 last week on my way to the fateful MOT, I had a guy in 40 grands-worth of BMW pull up alongside in lane3, I was in lane2, he lowered his passenger window & gave me a big thumbs up and a wide grin, listened to it for a few secs (the wedge, not his passenger window!), then went on his way...
a few minutes later, a couple in a citroen picasso sit next to me for a short while looking the car over with the window open...
Is this to be expected on a regular basis? or was it just a couple of strange folk who've never seen a sports car before!?
It's not that I mind having people look at me, I mean, I used to drive a nice little smart roadster (before I get flamed, I'm not comparing the two cars in the slightest), but I just wasn't expecting it within about 5-10 minutes of being on the road!!?

I'm glad your starting to enjoy the richness of Wedge ownership. I always find it amusing that you see pedestrians facing you as you approach and still see their faces in the rear view mirror as you pass. Other amusements are watching someone thinking about stepping/pulling out in front of you and then having a second thought when you dip the clutch and blip the throttle

My best one so far was on Southend Seafront last summer. There was a stunning chrome effect Murcielago parking up but many heads swivelled and followed me as I drove past in the 390SE (his back wheels probably cost about the same as my whole car) Edited by 911motorsport on Tuesday 29th December 21:28
Had a similar one recently. I was parked up outside a local shop while my daughter went in for something. There were two kiddies about 4 yr old running up & down the pavement as their mums had a natter 20 yds down. When I started the car they were behind me, next thing, they both went running past back to their mums, both with their hands over their ears.
Made me chuckle.

Made me chuckle.
I pulled up smartly at a crossroads, the exhast went 'pop', and there was a little dog being walked by an old man over the other side. The dog jumped up 3 feet into the mans arms - cue really dirty look from the old man ;^)
I view the exhaust as a safety feature - you never get people walking out into the street in front of you.

Hello chaps , Loads I would say
The Wedge effect x 3
1. When my little girl first saw it and sat in it, she was 10 and the car was in the garage . I started it, to get it out and she just started crying.the noise was not what she was expecting.
2. While on my Euro trip ,every where I went I kept getting people stop me for photos and even got an invitation to dinner in Lichtenstein by a nice bloke in a top of the range merc and his stunning younger wife.
3. On the ferry at Dover while waiting to get off, when I started the car and the woman in the car next to me nearly had a heart attack, her family were very amused and the wedge noise filled the ferry and drew a lot of attention.
The car has presence, no doubt, but its the whole thing , noise.looks. rareness and the fact that we guys and girls , do the right thing by hanging onto them.

I'm loving all these comments!! I really can't wait to get it on the road and start enjoying it!!!
It's been waaaayyyyyy too long since I've had a nice car, and I've never had owt like the wedge, so it's going to be a great experience!
I remember my uncle telling me a few years ago about how he used to set car alarms off when driving down narrow streets and/or high streets!!

In a supermarket car park once, this guy came up, pointed at the 390SE and said "I had one of those TR7s once".
Me: "It's a TVR."
Him: "Yes, that's right, mine was a TVR TR7".
Me: "Errrr...."
Another time, same supermarket, I was standing at the checkout. Looked out of the window and there's two blokes peering at the 390. Then one of them stood on the rear wing...

I presume he thought it was somehow adjustable and that by standing on it, he might prove said fact to his mate. Luckily for him they were gone before I cleared the checkout.
Young lad offered to race me in his blingin' VW Golf. I declined, suggesting that either he went away and found a VW with a 50-year-old engine or else I could borrow a current-production TVR Cerbera if he preferred...? He turned me down...
