Cold Wedge heating anyone?
Discussion
Hi Guys
My 350i (1987) has been getting rather cold inside lately (including tonight), engine around 80C very little heat coming out of heater, hoses to and from matrix are warm but not exactly HOT! Today I covered half the rad intake which kept the engine temp up better but still no heat inside (before when stat opened engine temp would plummet). I would go for reduced flow through matrix (can't see any tap in pipeline) so guess a gentle wash through would help?? Or is this normal for this time of year?? Any other thoughts would be appreciated - I could try more socks.

My heater didn't work because the inside was full of gunge and the outside was covored in crap as well. It also leaked so when it did warm up it caused condensation on the windscreen rather than clearing it. A new matrix means that the windscreen can be demisted.
Without the engine getting to temperature it won't work anyway

Reverse flushing the matrix with a garden hose cleared mine.
After re-bleeding it was like a real car.
But I found that the valve was not shutting off the flow completely when on cold. I installed a manual shut off in the engine compartment so the AC was not fighting with the heater matrix.

I've also done this in the past on an old V6 Granada - the difference was unbelievable.Just make sure the disgusting thick brown smelly crud thats coming out of the heater matrix doesn't go on your nice driveway, otherwise it looks like someone has taken a
