It was definatly damp coz there was moisture on the nuderside of bonnet so left bonnet up all mornin in bit o sun we had dried up but bugger wont start
Battery fine turnin over jus not firin, is it a case of the old damp start down the engine or is there a better technique so I can go down n blow the dead leave over the fence onto the offending MR 2 owners highly polished car that starts but u av 2 be an hairdresser to drive???!!!??

Dried every thing out?

Had a problem recently that drove me nuts.

Had spark, fuel (have you?) and a good turn over. I had flooded it, plus one or two other faults. Sorted the faults. Dried the plugs with a rag but that was not enough. So dried them and put them on the house rad for an hour and turned the heating up. Popped them back in and sorted. Fired first time. Someone said to pop them in the oven but I wasn't too keen on that.

Pull the air filter off, stick your hand in the air meter and puash the flap (with the ignition on). You should hear the fuek pump runnig. If it sounds noisy and rough, you may be out of fuel! Happens more often than you expect....
If you can hear it, let it run for a few sexonds to prime the fuel rail, then try starting it.
Still no joy, pull a plug lead off and wedge it somewhere with the end near the engine block while you spin it over and check for spark.

No joy, then report back here...

If it's damp - ask to borrow the MR2 owner's hairdryer and use an extension lead. A friend of mine swears by this method!

I left mine out in all the rain and damp and snow and didn't use it for 8-10 days - fired first time to be taken to workshop - in the snow!

Have you changed anything.

Like fitted new 'red' plug leads... and assummed that they must be OK without checking they worked after you fitted them !

(Plug leads is an example !)

Another thought .. check the dizzy cap .. check that
the centre electrode has not broken or worn away !

One of the most common problems with cars that won't start according to the AA !

i used to have problems with wet plugs on start up and the way i got round it was to disk connected the cold start injecter (ive found i don't need it) and i put a switch inline with the live feed to the fuel pump which i fitted by the drivers seat, so when i do flood the plugs i switch the pump off and turn the engine over for 5 or so seconds with my foot to the floor this helps to dry the plugs out, and while your turning the egine over switch the fuel pump on and she should fire up,
