Excessive play in rear wheel-the mech has replaced the rear wheel bearing -its better but not right.
He asked about the uj`s what car they come from-any ideas?

Can't tell you what they're also fitted to, but hopefully a decent motor factor can supply based on the part numbers and maker. You need to check the dimensions, as I think it's not unheard of for 350's to have the larger driveshafts fitted, and thereore the larger uj's.

Slightly concerning that your mechanic can't tell whether there is play in the wheel bearing or uj's though.

Universal (or 'Hookes') joints are not exclusive to cars. As a result, you can obtain replacements from bearing suppliers if you know the diameter of the bearing caps and the distance across the caps (not across the circlips or they won't fit!).

Like this:

Juat make sure you get a reputable brand like GKN or Hardy Spicer, not Kwang Chun... and insist on grease nipples!

I just did one on the 400SX and before I did it, it did look quite like the bearing was sloppy. I think this applies especially to A frame cars. However, if you turn the driveshaft over a bit, it becomes obvious that it's the UJ, if only one cup has gone loose.

There are two sizes (as has been pointed out) last time I paid just under £20 for the larger ones, GKN, nice quality items made in Japan, so I should be OK for some drifting now!

Make sure they have grease nipples on. Plenty of local motor factors will have them.
