Swan Neck Question

On my series 2 350i the swan neck appears to heave been lengthened on the engine end. The car has power steering and the swan neck is definitely longer than the one off my old car without ps. You can see the joint where the extension has been welded on. Is this standard? is it required to clear to ps pump? Anyhow I need to look at some modification as it has been rubbing on the fan belt which has caused it to fail. I might try to swap the neck for the one off my old car if I can get it to fit.

The swan neck on the series 2 is longer because the hose from the rad is shorter and is a different shape it comes out nearly strait.
If you were to fit the early swan neck you need the longer hose as well.

Both swan necks I have are series 2 - the one on the car is extended by 2" at the engine end
