I had also emailed the 6 owners that I could find through here to ask if they were interested in selling!!

all answered no, which is why I went for the 280! with a view to retro fit a 350/390 engine!

I should really go for this but ive committed to the 280 now and cant really mess the guy around!

There is a 350 FHC on Ebay, but it's not a 2+2, which is presumably what Hallsie was after... the one for sale by 'jonorbecky' is a 2-seater (check the fuel filler!).

I have a 280iFHC in the States and I'm thinking of swapping the engine for a 350/390. Anybody with experience?

The wife actually prefers the ebay car, but the lack of rear seats is still the guiding force.

Graham, Ill call the guy and offer him £2500, and perhaps a few others can do the same, then you can go in at 3K and happy days!

TVR had to widen the chassis rails around the engine bay in order to get the Rover V8 to fit. Some folk have reported that very late 280s used the widened chassis, in fact some cars even had both sets of engine mounts, so if you're really lucky and have one of those, in theory the RV8 should drop straight in.
You'd also need the LT77 gearbox, the propshaft and exhaust modifying/making AND a set of exhaust manifolds that were intended for the TVR as most other versions won't fit. You need a 'block-hugging' design.
Maybe you could find an American V8 that would squeeze in, but you'd have to find a gearbox that would fit within the TVRs chassis... etc etc... !

If you were doing this I'd go for a T5 Gearbox......and it will fit in an early Tasmin.

302 Ford seems to be the way to go stateside.

Apparently pretty straightforward, with no chopping about. smile
