valve seals & cam chain

Can any one tell me what the valve seals should look like on my single spring cylinder heads, the inlet valves have a round rubber washer and no seals on the outlets.
Also how much slack should be on the cam chain?

What you have described is correct. 'Umbrella' seals they are.
