As some of you will remember back towards the end of last year I hit a deer in the 400SE and seemed to get off lightly with regard to damage. Just getting around to sorting out the repairs now and I have a couple of problems that I could do with the benefit of your collective experience to help resolve.

(1) Does anyone know which manufactures Indicators were used in the front of a 400SE of an H plate vintage? Unfortunately the ones supplier by TVR Car Parts are not quite the right shape with respect to the front lens (and therefore probably the housing as well) and would require a slight front bumper modification to fit.

(2) Does anyone know of an after market set of driving lights that would fit the front spoiler without modification as to replace with the originals (that the spoiler slots appear to have been shaped and made with in mind) is going to be pricey! I have tried various options but nothing appears to fit other than a set of originals.

Any help and advice here would be gratefully received!

Regards

Richard.

Just run out to the garage to look! Front indicator/side light is a Pug 505 unit I think (no manufacturer markings on it), the side indicator (little square one) has a Ford marking on it. Can't help with fogs/driving lights I'm afraid - think they are Cibie units though. Good luck with the repairs. Jamie

Hi
I recently replaced both the front indicators and the driving lights on my 400se, having bought the car with a front corner missing. The replacement indicator/side light units, as you say, don't fit properley. They are angled differently to the originals (the original lenses are wedge shape). I tried new ones from RT Racing and Tvrcarparts and both were different to the remaining original one. I also bought (via ebay) 2 used ones from 2 different Peugeot 505's and they didn't fit either!
In the end I used the new ones from Tvrcarparts and cut away the inside of the bumper with a Dremel to allow the new unit to 'tip over' enough to line up properly with the bumper surface. Once the cutting out is done, I secured the units in place with black bodywork adhesive/sealant and they look original. The driving lights on mine had already been replaced with items from 'Ring' so i bought a pair of new ones from Halfords (£30? the set), they are very similar, i think the original (Cibies) are no longer avilable.
The side repeaters are Ford, i think Sierra?

Pretty sure the side repeaters were generic to all Fords in the mid-80s!

Thanks for your help guys. General consensus seams to be that a bumper mod will be required for the indicators so I'll proceed with that in mind.

Adam - Good to hear from you again and very kind of you to offer to help out here. I must be honest I couldn't find anything on ebay when I looked so I may well take up your offer if this takes too much longer to resolve. I'll be in touch if I need your help and again thanks for the offer.

Johntom - I tried a set of Ring Driving lights but they would have required modification to get them to fit. I don't suppose you by chance know the model/part number for the set that you bought that seemed to fit?

I’m led to believe that Demon Tweakes can still provide original Cibies driving lights but at a cost!!! As a result would prefer after market if I can or of course used original Cibies as Adam suggested. So if anyone has further suggestions then please let me know.

Thanks again all.

Cibie Airport 35 's I think are the original ones for spot lamps

New ones on Ebay for £90 or keep searching on ebay as they sometimes come up. Also try looking in french supermarkets as they used to sell them (got some once on a trip to LeMans a few years ago for @ £40 a pair

When I chased down a pair of mine and they arrived, I thought I had the wrong ones but they fitted very snug.

I found a Peugeot spares specialist. Cannot remember which but they did say they had supplied a few TVRs after bumps. Will have a rummage for the receipt.

I did find a dealer that said they had originals but when I called back they denied it and said their computer system gave them duff info. Might be worth a punt?

I have a part number 630186704 from somewhere, not sure it is valid.

Edit. That part number I have has a note saying for both sides.

Valeo still have them listed, they may have some old stock.

Don't know if these would fit, they're for a 350i.

For the driving lights I used Pug 205 GTi lights - easy to find and a lot cheaper.
