come to the conclusion that it may not be the leads or plugs. Have noticed that the rev counter drops off then back on i.e. flickers but engine revs maintain. Could this be a bad earth? Are there numerous earth connections onto the chassis? Perhaps a lose earth. Strange as it idles fine only when require power or noticed reversing out of drive down a steep section in dies, not on flat though? Beginning to annoy me!

Any ideas guys? Reckon it electrical. Engine only done 51000 miles. Far from worn.

You might want to check the multiplug on the ecu (by under the fuse box).

Mine did a similar thing when this was loose.
