Hi
is there a recognised fix for rattling hood struts?
there seems to be play in the hinge pin - I thought about drilling out the rivet and possibly putting a stainless bolt through but the wall thickness of the strut would mean it wouldn't nip it up?

Might be a bit of wear in the flat part of the box section itself. Got a good spare one if you want it. thumbup

Thats the original fitmemt rattle .. priceless.

Only fix is to get a pair of alloy griff struts - they need extending a little though.

Hi
are these actually from a Griff, or just polished wedge ones?

Hi
they (especially the n/s) rattle with the roof up, they also mark the carpet when the roof is down. I am now in the process of recarpeting and want to avoid further marks. I think the struts are bolted through the original holes - don't recall seeing any others?
Should there be 'new holes'?

My Alloy roof strut is 19 inches (just the alloy thick part..) as I would have to take the strut off to measure it properly.

See picture. Note different pivot position from Griff / Chim pictures earlier (to make it longer).

I find just putting a washer or two underneath the strut,on the stud, tightens the whole strut up nicely and stops it rattling.

Can't resist it...

The rattle is an audible warning that you have left the hood up.

The Grief alloy ones are a huge leap forward. Much more solid, a sound click when in position and polish up nice. Shiney, Shiney.....

Only issue is slightly different mounting hole position.
