Help
The picture is of my window runner from my 350 1987 (blocks from my drive)
I need a replacement as its not holding the glass when the winder is lowered.
I have been advise to glue it into place but i dont think that would work for long.
Does any body know what it's from and could confirm (TR7 ?)
Does anybody have a spare ?
Thanks
Stephen

What does the inside of the channel look like, is it corroded?

Although these are not the greatest design, closing the opening in a vice (slightly) and renewing the glazing rubber (slightly thicker versions are available) and degreasing the glass usually works for me.

...but I've been in the trade for 18 years.

(this makes me feel old)

unfortunately half way up the runner were the darker brown rust it's split down the centre on the inside, then to cap it off it's broken through the side wall in the same place (all rusted)
I have taken to see if it could be welded but no go. The rust has also started on the opp end too.
so was hoping that somebody many have one ?

If it was mine, I'd sandblast the crap off it and then weld strips along to reinforce the piece of lace I'd be left with biggrin

But you know me, I'm as tight as a fresh choirboy wink

I had a similar problem, except my runner rotted away and jammed inside the door...

as you'll see a pretty mess....I went to B&Q and managed to buy an aluminium strip the same size, sawed of one side and used it has a brace and new runner...epoxied and rivetted...worked great...then fitted new window seals in the runners, i went for the thicker rubber.
finished article...

the last pic is the refurbed runner with window in the door....you'll notice I had to cut a section of fibreglass out of the inside door to get access but patched it up with Fibreglass afterwards.

Not so long ago you could buy these from Rimmer's - they use the same one on the Range Rover. In fact I have a brand new one.

For rubber I used an old bicycle inner tube cut up.

The glazing rubber is available with a criss-cross pattern on the glass side to promote a better purchase on the window. But this can also be achieved by keying the glass with a bit of Scotch cloth.

Not sure if this would count as advertising or not, but I believe TVR car parts have a few of these around as they've sorted me out with a pair recently.
